The International Film Festival of India kick started in Goa with filmstar Rekha inaugurating the event. The film fest promises a slew of film screenings with Bollywood celebs in town.
India’s most prestigious International Film Festival saw a grand opening in Goa with evergreen actress Rekha inaugurating the ceremony.
Rekha said, “It’s a great pleasure and honour to do this. Thank you for choosing me to do this.”
Nearly 225 films from across the globe will be screened during the next 10 days.
Rekhaji’s Silsila in a special Festival at the Film Museum in Holland
Wow! It’s all about capturing of scenic beauties that Yash Raj Films enthralls you with its every flick. Of course, it’s well-noted that Yash Raj Films has a special connection with European Countries, since it has filmed at its most exotic locations in the world. Rekha finally feels the need to connect with her fans through, well,
not blogging but through television. She is ready to finally do
television after years of turning down lucrative offers. “I know,
many times in the past, I have said I won’t do television,” says
Rekha. “But there’s a demand for me to be on television. So yes, I’m
finally taking the plunge.”
But she isn’t divulging her plans yet. “I’ve already formulated what
I want to do. It’s nothing that has been seen on television before.
No talk-show or game show for me, thanks. It’s something entirely
unique. But until I decide on the channel and other details I’d like
to keep it under wraps. As you know this world is filled with clones,
copycats and wannabes.”
Though Rekha doesn’t admit it, according to the grapevine in the
industry, she has pitched the format and the proposal to two leading
channels, and she will go with whichever she is more comfortable with
What about blogging to communicate with fans? She retorts, “I’m
computer illiterate. I believe the internet has got every photograph
and every detail of my life. But no blogging for me, please. I feel,
why go through four hours of agonizing notes, six hours of censoring
and deleting, and then to go through the heartbreak of having it
appear and have people pounce on you. I don’t have the time for that.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has bought the rights of a book written by Mayank Austen Soofi book titled ‘A Sudden Visit to Pakistan: Heera Mandi
The Dream Home of The Whores’ for a huge price. The film will be shot entirely in Lahore and will feature nine leading ladies and seven male stars. The films budget is said to be around Rs 75 crore. ”
Industry sources says, ” Rekha, Shabana Azmi, Madhuri Dixit, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif are in Bhansali’s list to play the leading lady for the film and has has already started speaking to the lead actors and is in the process of finalizing other details of the film.
Except Heera Mandi Rekha sign a Movie named “Aaj phir jeene ki tamman hai” but we have no detailed news about it.
Rekha & Shatrughan Sinha come together in Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai
Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai sang Waheeda Rehman along with Dev Anand in the 60’s classic Guide. Now, 40 years after that song went on to become a rage, Shatrughan Sinha and Rekha will come together in a film called Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai.
The film, shooting of which is currently on in Karjat, also stars Hrishita Bhatt and Satish Shah and is being co-produced by popular T.V. star Kamia Malhotra along with Shatrughan’s better-half, Poonam Sinha. The film is directed by Ramesh Talwar who earlier directed the Sanjay Dutt- Madhuri Dixit- Rishi Kapoor love triangle Sahibaan in the 90’s.
While Shatrughan Sinha would be playing a princely character, the timeless beauty Rekha would be seen in a ‘dynamic’ role.

The Diva Rekha will receive the award on May 30 at a function that will be held in Pune for the exemplary work she has done of Indian cinema. The Chief Minister of the State of Maharashtra as well as the Deputy CM will be present on the occasion.Rekha has been selected to receive the coveted award from the Maharashtra Government for Raj Kapoor Smriti Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar .The award comprises Rs two lakh, citation and a memento. On the same day Aamir Khan the top star of Bollywood at the moment will receive the coveted Raj Kapoor Smriti Vishesh Gaurav Puraskar. The cultural affairs department has also decided to felicitate recipients of the Padma awards this year who belong to the film industry including singers Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu and Shamshad Begum apart from noted music director Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar.There are also plans to felicitate the stars of the Oscar-winning film `Slumdog Millionaire` and double Oscar winner music director A R Rahman has also been invited, an official of the cultural department said.

A few days ago, Rekha was asked to participates in forthcoming TV show Raaz Pichle Janam Ka which is based on past life regression. This show is hosted by Ravi kishan. On the meeting that took place at Rekha’s Bandstand residence, the producers tried their best to convince the actress but she did not relent. She was quite apprehensive when she learnt that her previous life will become an open book. She categorically told the producers, “I have had enough controversies in my life. I don’t want anything from my past life to be made public.”
“The producers were even willing to pay her an exorbitant amount but Rekha stuck to her guns,” says a source.

Padma Shri is an award given by the Government of India generally to Indian citizens to recognize their distinguished contribution in various spheres of activity including the Arts, Education, Industry, Literature, Science, Sports, Medicine, Social Service and public life. It’s great news that out of 81 winners Diva Rekha is one of them.
On Tuesday 16 March 2010 Diva Rekha attend the music launch on Raj Kanwar’s Sadiyaan in Mumbai.
